Recipe – Blueberry and Mint Smoothie

Blueberry & Mint Smoothie Ingredients

Here’s a great basic recipe for a low-carb smoothie that leaves you plenty of space for experimentation.

Making smoothies often involves some planning: you need to write a shopping list, do the groceries and sometimes even prep the ingredients (for example freeze fruits overnight) before you can enjoy the delicious treat. That’s why I like this easy recipe so much: you just throw in the mixer any frozen berries you might have at home (and if you’re an experienced smoothie-maker/drinker you always have at least two or three different kinds in your freezer), blend it with any type of milk, optionally add a herb or two and it’s all done.

Here’s what you’ll need to make a 250ml glass:

  • 100g frozen blueberries (or any other berries of your choice)
  • 150ml soya milk (other healthy options include oat and almond milk, or cow milk for a fattier treat)
  • small bunch of mint (if you’re using strawberries try adding basil instead, raspberry and rosemary make a good combo too)

Put everything in a blender, process until smooth. Pour the smoothie into a glass and serve immediately. The making is fast enough to pull it through during the morning rush or as a pick-me-up-drink in the middle of a busy day. Being healthy is easy and fun!
